Guiding the Development of Strategic Plans
Client:
Three faith-based communities
Mission:
Three small but successful congregations desired to explore collaborating for outreach and successful ministry. TR Weiland Company was contracted to lead the three communities through a strategic planning process.
Strategies:
- Team-building activities help the strategic planning representatives of each congregation develop trusting relationships.
- Strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities facing each of the churches were identified.
- Common values among all the congregations were explored and documente
- Mission and vision statements as well as guiding principles and values and strategic goals and objectives were drafted for presentation to all three congregations.
- Communication strategies among the three congregations consisted predominantly of small discussion groups, where participants were comfortable asking questions and posing challenges.
Results:
All three congregations voted overwhelmingly to support the strategic plan. Implementation of the strategic objectives is underway.
